2023 Sponsorship: Orange Grove Robotics

6/22/2023

We recently had the pleasure of awarding the Orange Grove Robotics team with a sponsorship to continue their robotics education and competition activities!

This is another example of commitment to our mission to inspire Lowcountry Youth, serve as an advocate of Lowcountry STEM programs, and be the catalyst that creates synergies between our professional member societies, local industry, and educational institutions.

This team is doing incredible work in robotics education for high school students.

And, it is our pleasure to help continue doing this work.

See below for the accomplishments that the team recently achieved.
Good afternoon Charleston Engineers Joint Council!

This has been an unprecedented year for Orange Grove Robotics Team! We are excited to let you know that the team qualified for the First Robotics World Championships in Houston by winning the Inspire Award and placing 1st at the SC Championship last weekend! The Inspire Award is the highest award that can be earned at the competition.

Here is a brief description:

This judged award is given to the team that best embodies the ‘challenge’ of the FIRST Tech Challenge program. The team that receives this award is a strong ambassador for FIRST programs and a role model FIRST team. This team is a top contender for many other judged awards and is a gracious competitor. The Inspire Award winner is an inspiration to other teams, acting with Gracious Professionalism® both on and off the playing field. This team shares their experiences, enthusiasm and knowledge with other teams, sponsors, their community, and the judges. Working as a unit, this team will have shown success in performing the task of designing and building a robot.

All this was possible through your support which allowed for significant robot design improvements. The students have enjoyed developing a reliable and consistent robot through the design and engineering process.

We greatly appreciated your support this season and are reaching out to you again to ask for your support in helping us raise funds to attend the World Championship Event.  This is a huge opportunity for our team, and we hope you'll consider supporting us again by making a donation.
Thank you for your time and consideration!

As seminal marketer Seth Godin says, people like us do things like this.

We recently awarded 7 graduating high school seniors with scholarships as they start their higher education journey in STEM programs!

  • Isabella Corbitt, Phillip Simmons High School
  • Aidan Frye, Palmetto Scholars Academy
  • Olivia Fogel, Ashley Ridge High School
  • Colburn Hill, Cane Bay High School
  • Kiersten Miller, Wando High School
  • Coleman Turner, Summerville High School
  • Inna Voloshchuk, Wando High School

Each awardee and their families were presented with the awards by CEJC leadership at the ECPI campus in North Charleston.

This group of young people is simply outstanding. It is truly incredible to see the achievements that each awardee has already accomplished.

It certainly is enough to feel optimistic about the future of STEM!

Special thanks to Ron Neil for the use of ECPI University's facilities, Jen Meador for delivering the address to the students, and the representatives from the CEJC's member orgs for coming out!

Y'all rock!
