We recently awarded 2 graduating high school seniors with scholarships as they start their higher education journey in STEM programs!

  • Macy Myers, Berkeley High School
  • Malachi Milton, West Ashley High School
Picture
Macy Myers is a graduating Senior from Berkeley High School and is going to study Civil Engineering at the University of South Carolina.
It is with great pleasure I write to offer my recommendation of Macy Myers for a
scholarship. I have taught Macy this year in AP Calculus AB and last year in Pre-
Calculus Honors. She is a remarkable young lady with good mathematical skills and a
great attitude. It is my belief that she is an exemplary candidate for this scholarship.

Macy is motivated and persistent in academic pursuits. As her teacher, I have noticed
that she is determined to fully understand and excel in her math classes. She is involved
both in school and outside of school. She has a positive attitude and a pleasing
personality both with her peers and with the faculty. It is my belief that she will continue
to excel in college.

Therefore, I am honored to offer my support and recommendation for Macy as a qualified
candidate for this scholarship. She is a motivated and determined student and is highly
deserving of this honor. She will use this scholarship to continue her studies marked by
dedication and excellence. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact
me by phone or by email.

Malachi Milton is a graduating senior from West Ashley High School and is going to be studying Architecture at Florida A&M University in the Fall.
I have known Malachi for the last 6 years and I truly believe he has the
character and integrity necessary to be the ideal candidate for the scholarship program. He is a candidate that you will be proud to have as an example for years to come.

I first met Malachi during his time as a student in our First Lego League Robotics Program. He quickly became our student leader because of his leadership skills, confidence, and passion for all things STEM. Serving as our ambassador, Malachi was the perfect example for FLL Robotics
because of his Intellectual Ability, Reliability, and Compassion.

During the time that I have known Malachi, it has always stood out to me that he is a rarity because he has the ability to display confidence, while always being respectful. I’ve known him to be academically accomplished, resourceful, and dependable through the years. Well-mannered and Well-prepared are two adjectives I would use to describe Malachi.

I have a great deal of respect for Malachi and I am honored to be able to provide this letter of recommendation for the program you represent. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to speak with me in more detail about why he is the ideal candidate.

Respectfully,

Each awardee and their families were presented with the awards by CEJC leadership at the ECPI campus in North Charleston.

This group of young people is simply outstanding. It is truly incredible to see the achievements that each awardee has already accomplished.

It certainly is enough to feel optimistic about the future of STEM!

Special thanks to Ron Neil for the use of ECPI University's facilities, Shawn Gordon and Ronnie Neil for representing the council at the event, and the representatives from the CEJC's member orgs for coming out!

Y'all rock!
